Ribbon Pennant

Let me start with a question to all of you.Do you have lots of scraps of ribbon? You know those little end pieces and pieces that might make a nice bow?
Well let me say I have ribbon everywhere.

I had these really great Banners in Acetate from Creative Cuts & More.

They come with a protective sheet so you don't scratch them before using.




You can order these Banners in Acetate or Chipboard.
Creative Cuts and More also offers this really aggressive tape-
Killer White Tear-able Tacky Tape - 1/4".
I used this to cover one side completely - It is so easy to use this two sided adhesive,
I always know my projects will stay together.

I sorted out several pieces of pink-most of the pieces worked very well without me having to cut them.
The back of the pennant looks pretty good also because you see the ribbons.
You have the choice of placing ribbon on this side also or maybe a favorite patterned paper would look nice.

This first view is after I trimmed all the overlap.I used one of my favorite tools-The Crop-O-Dile!!!
I punched three holes across the tops of each. You can choose to punch after the ribbon is on or punch first and then re-punch through the hole after your done placing the ribbons.

I threaded a long ribbon through all the holes but didn't like them not matching on the front. So I un-threaded and came up with coming in one side and tying a ribbon on the back to hold the loop. Then I went back through the same hole and out the front. I really liked that they lined up on the front and hung nicer.

So I decided to use these Banners in Acetate to make a pink banner.
I added some more extra ribbon on the ends, and some bling and flowers from Prima.
So I hope you enjoyed this easy idea to use up lots of scrap pieces of ribbon with a great Creative Cuts and More die..

I picked the Pennant #04 Album & Chipboard Set!  It was so fun to make!  I used Killer White Tear-able Tacky Tape to attach the card stock to the chipboard!

I ordered 2 pages in acetate for covers.

My 13 year old took all these pictures of my 3 year old and I thought they were perfect for a mini album!  Plus it is so FUN to not always work on 12 x 12 albums!

A Sweet 16 Album Part 2

"We interrupt our regularly scheduled program... "
I know that on my to last post on the Die Cut Divas Blog I said that I would unveil the rest of this album on the 21st. But since we have a BLOG HOP on the 20th, Terry asked me to change my regularly scheduled post so that more people can enjoy our Thanksgiving & Christmas ideas next week!

So, here's the rest of my Sweet 16 Album. (I apologize in advance for the lighting in the photos. I did not realize how bad it was until after I had given the album to Terry!)

Here is the cover again. I used the Pennant Album in acetate. The great thing about ordering albums (or ANYTHING) Creative Cuts & More is that you can order in any color, material & number of pages you want!! For this, I ordered 6 clear pages to play with. Then I ordered tons of Birthday-related dies in the kraft color because I knew that I could always alter them with inks & Glimmer Mists!
(There are a ton of photos because I wanted to show you how you can see the layers through to each page...)

Ta Da! Instead of a traditional binding at the side, I punched my hole along the tips of the banner & used a binding post to attach them (this album come without any holes punched so that you can put them where you want them). It opens really easily into this flower. I tried not to make the pages too bulky so that it would open nicely!

Below, is just another look at each page individually & a listing of supplies I used...

Cover: Cupcake & Balloon

I cut apart 2 identical cupcakes for the above effect. I embossed & inked the lower part of the cupcake & Glimmer Misted the top portion to look like chocolate. Next I glimmered the balloon & used stickles to write the 16 & highlight the cupcake.

You can see this cute Shopping Bag (coming soon) through the front. 

I LOVE this little bag! I placed a couple of pieces of paper inside to resemble tissue, added a shipping tag to pull out for journaling & TINY jewelry tag that says "for you."

I used stickles to fill in the polka dots on the hats,

covered the presents with paper & stickled the bows.

I covered the cake slice die with a couple different layers -

the one in the middle has strawberry paper surrounded by the other "chocolate" layers! YUM!

A Sweet 16 Album, Part 1

Hello!

A couple of weeks ago, Terry asked me to design a Birthday mini-album using ANY of the album dies from CC&M as long as it was in acetate! I like working with acetate, but it can be tricky - having to think of what can be seen into the next layer & the placement of your adhesive can drive you mad when planning a page!! But I was up for the challenge! (I may have taken it in a little bit of a different direction that she might have expected though!!)

Today, I am just teasing you with the cover! You will have to check back in a couple of weeks (October 21st to be exact!) in my next Creative Cuts & More post to see more!

Sweet 16 Banner Album

You've heard the saying "a Banner Year?" Well, why not a "Banner Album?" I picked the Banner/Pennant die to work with for this album, but, suprise, surprise - I thought outside of the box & it doesn't open up to a banner! (You'll begin to see just what I mean on the 21st!) Also, sorry about the lighting in the above pix - tried both natural & lamp-lit. Neither really does it justice!

I had 2 cupcakes to work with, so I cut one up & embossed the lower part; Glimmer Misted the top to look like chocolate & gave the candle a little more depth & a glittery flame. Then I stickled here & there on the frosting to add more dimension. (The shopping bag (up on CC&M soon) on the next layer is showing through, but looks like part of the cover!)

Above that is a balloon that I Glimmered with a couple layers of color to achieve the funky orange & stickled the 16 on there free-hand.

The top of the banner is just 8x8 patterned paper from DCWV trimmed to size with the word "Sweet" stamped on it in the same hot pink I used on the cupcake. I added some other clear embellishments from my stash (super old Heidi Swapp hearts!) & some great seem binding for the balloon string.

Everything else you see, is on the layers behind the cover! So much fun & quite the mystery as to what you might find on the other pages! Don't be afraid of acetate! Just let your imagination go wild & layer away!! It was really quite fun to pull together!!

Thanksgiving Banner & Blog Hop Info

 

I can't get enough of a good thing. These pennant and leaf die cuts are so fabulous! You get to choose your colors and textures, you can't beat that! I ordered two different die cut leaves in 5 different fabulous colors. I also had the Pennant die cut in cardstock and chipboard for stability.... longevity! I plan to use this every year. At the end of this post is a list of the colors I used... aren't they great together?
