Let Me Share Some October Projects from our Guest Patti G

Sorry for not posting these sooner, our guest for October, Patti G from Cherish Each Precious Day has finished her visit with us.
Let me share some of her projects- you will love them!

 Isn't this the creepiest idea? That is good, and a fun project to share.

The first is a color-blocked card.  I chose to use the cream base, with an orange grid.  I had a good time testing many of my forgotten stamps, trying to find the right fit for the openings.

Stamps are Inkadinkado and Hero Arts.  Coloring was done using colored pencils and mineral spirits.  The Designer Paper was from an Autumn Mat Stack by DCWV.

 I started with the Apron Die Cut.  Added some great designer paper from The Paper Studio.  Mmmmm....Pumpkin Pie?  Who can resist that?   Added  a Tag Die Cut, a sentiment from Hero Arts, and a bit of green seam binding ribbon from Stampin' Up.


I want to thank Patti G for being our guest and sharing so many wonderful projects. I know she gave me lots of ideas.Hopefully Patti G will come back again to visit.

Here is her posting in her own words

I chose to use the Oval Window Box with the Acetate Rectangle, and the Small Oak Leaf.  Oh my goodness - what an easy box to put together!  I simply scored, assembled the box using CCM's Killer White Tacky Tape, and decorated.  A fall mat stack from last year's DCWV collection was used for the DP, and I tied a knot around the leaf stem with a ribbon scrap.  I used my Creole Spice Kaleidacolor pad for distressing the leaf.  Nuggets were wrapped with DP, placed in the box, and Voila!

I chose one of their Circle window A2 cards that included a mat. I chose an orange card, with a brown mat. I wanted the card to be very visible, so decided on a very clean and simple look. Meet Pumpkin Birdie!

The image and sentiment are from the Pre-Colored set, Pumpkin Birdie, from Doodle Pantry. What fun! I printed the image, cut it out with a circle Nestie, embossed around it, and drew in some faux stitching with the die still on the image. The sentiment was trimmed and matted with scraps sent from Creative Cuts and More, and attached to this fabulous 3-D label from CCM. A few more 'stitches', a handful of teensy pearls later, voila!

Welcome Our September Guest Designer Patti G

Hello Everyone, Dawn Here.
I am honored to announce our September Guest Designer this month. Patti Gilliam is such a talented artist but also a really special friend.
Let me share a little about her in her own words.

Being a recently retired administrative assistant, I now help my husband with his business. Like many, I’ve been crafting for years; cross stitching, sewing, painting, etc. I was introduced to paper crafts in 2002, and slightly dabbled for along time, but became hopelessly addicted a few years ago. I’ve been blogging for almost three years,and love the friends that I’ve met through this hobby.

I am blessed many times over with a wonderful husband, whoindulges my time in my craft room, and just spoils me rotten! He is my best friend, and soul-mate! We have been married for 38 years, and livein Farmington, Missouri.

We have two amazing grown kids. Our son lives in Calif., and is an Air Force Major. Sadly, we only see him a few times eachyear. Our daughter had moved back to ourarea about 2.5 years ago, to serve as Marketing Director for a nearby YMCA,after living in La., Pa., Asia, and New York. It was so good having her nearby again. However, a wonderful new opportunity openedup for her in Colorado Springs, so she’s living there now. We are very proud of them both.

I treat every day as God’s gift to me, and try to “CherishEach Precious Day”.

Here is one special project she did for her first post.

Patti chose to work with the Library Pocket Card #02. She used it as a card front on a standard A2 sized card.

We are excited to introduce you to our January Guest Designer, Robin Parker!

 We are so lucky to have Robin this month!  Her work is AMAZING!  Here is a little about her in her own words.  "I am a stay at home mom and I have been enjoying papercrafting for just over a year now! I love the cutesy and am trying to learn how to do "grown-up" cards, as my sister calls them. I'm excited to be a part of this talented group of ladies and am looking forward to digging through my embellishments in the weeks to come. "Robin's Creative Nest" would not exist if it weren't for my fabulous sister, Darsie Bruno, who has purchased all of my supplies and taught me everything I know about this craft. I am also excited to be working alongside her, as she encourages me in all of my creative endeavors! "

Hello Everyone - This is Chris Dickinson here! I took the month of September off and it is taking me some time to get back into the swing of things here. September, we had the VERY talented Lynn Stevens as our Guest Designer, and I feel as if I failed her! I want to apologize to her for not having this posted last month.

What fun I had creating these treat boxes for Halloween. I used the coffin treat box for this. It is so easy to put together. The stamps are from the newest Artistic Outpost Haunted Halloween plate. I used the torn frames technique from the Technique Junkies Newsletter.

For my next project I used the Matchbox Large and spider die cut from Creative Cuts & More

The technique uses Worn Wallpaper from TJ latest newsletter.

INTRODUCING OUR GUEST DESIGNER - LYNN STEVENS

Hello Everyone- We are so excited to have the Talented Designer, Lynn Stevens join our team for the month of October as our Guest! Please take some time to welcome her and stop at her Blog to check out her GORGEOUS work!

   

Lynn Stevens has been involved with Art through out her life. She has had her own Mural and Faux Painting business for 11 Years. In her spare time she enjoys making Altered Art, Stamping and designing Jewelry often incorporating vintage or found objects into her art. She is on design teams for Artistic Outpost, Alpha Stamps,I Brake For Stamps, Oxford Impressions, Gingersnap Creations and has been a guest designer for Technique Junkies, Scrolls work, Firecracker Designs By Pamela.


 Shes been published in many issues of Stampington magazines and Altered Arts. When shes not in her studio you can find her combing through junk shops, antique stores or yard Sales looking for undiscovered treasures.

Guest Designer - Darsie Bruno

I'm Darsie Bruno and I am excited to be the September Guest Designer for Creative Cuts & More and will be showing you some fabulous things I've done with a selection of diecuts for this Fall Season. 

First up, I've created a sweet project/gift idea for a teacher! This is a great gift for your child to give on Opening Night, or save for Christmas. You can tuck candies, teas, or an accordian book inside the box. I created notecards using the small Apple diecut and paired it with K & Company's Fall paper stack.

GUEST DESIGNER CREATION - Melisa Waldorf

Good Morning!  August 1 was the beginning of my fun Guest Designer gig with Creative Cuts and More and my goal is to show you how awesome and easy these products are.

Creative Cuts and More sells pre-cut/pre-scored die cuts.  There products range from simple image die cuts to AWESOME 3-D templates to pre-cut mini albums, and much more!!  If you have ever wanted to create 3-D boxes or bags, this is the way to go.  All you have to do is fold along the scored lines and adhere.  She carries a HUGE list of colors for you to select from.   And why am I so excited?? Because I have always secretly admired all those cool boxes and bags over at SCS, but was to lazy to try it!

This project is a Cupcake Box.  Perfect to drop off on a co-workers desk or give to a friend.  It comes with this cool insert to hold the cupcake in place and an acetate window.   I put together my box and began embellishing.  I decided to cut panels in a lighter shade of pink and run them through the cuttlebug with an embossing folder.  And then I distressed with pink ink that matched the box.  Then I glued the pom-pom fiber around the edge of the lid.

Now another great option would have been to stamp the box, but keep in mind that you would have to do that before folding.

These cards come with different shaped windows for you to choose from.  The pink glitter on the icing on the inside didn't really match, but you get the idea.  And as you can see, I lined up the cupcake on the inside so that it is not visible from the outside.

The Card Front

To create the embossed front of the card begin with a rectagular piece of cardstock that fits just inside the card  front, leaving a border.  Mine is 4 x 5 1/4.  Run it through the Big Shot using an embossing folder of you chose. 

The Cupcakes

I started with 2 pink and 2 white.  Cut the icing tops away from 1 of the white and 1 of the pink switch them up, layering the white icing over the pink die and vise versa.  Now your pink cupcake liner will have a white icing and vise versa.  DO NOT GLUE them down until you have stamped the liners.  Stamp both the liners with a decorative stamp.  I chose polka dots.  Ink edges black.  Color both candles black.  Cover the pink flame with white pigment ink.  Apply adhesive to both flames and sprinkle with glitter (Stampendous).  Now adhere the white cut out icing on the pink cupcake and vise versa.  I used Liquid Applque on my white icing but didn't like how it looked.  So I applied adhesive (Aleene's Tacky Glue) and sprinkled with glitter.  I did like that it was raised though. The dimension looks really cool.  I should have used my Puffy Paint (local craft store) instead of the Liquid Applique.  It would have been smoother and more like real icing.  Apply adhesive to the pink icing and sprinkle with glitter.  I used pink and it doesn't really match, I should have stuck with the white, because I think the pink would have still shown through the glitter and matched better. 

I used a piece of the lighter pink cardstock to create the label on the inside.  I placed it inside the card so I could plan the positioning of my sentiment.  I centered it up and helped to keep it in place by putting a small strip of tape runner on the back of it.  I was afraid I would mess up the sentiment, so that's why I waited to adhere it down.  Close the card.  Choose a birthday sentiment and slide your cupcake over the front to figure out the best position.  Stamp your sentiment.  If you got it right the first time, great (I had to do it twice).  Now you can adhere that inside label.  And adhere the cupcake to the outside.  Now you can slide the cupcake on the inside of the card until you get it directly under the one on the outside.  Glue it down  to the inside of the card.

Hello Everyone - this is Chris Dickinson here - we are so thankful for all of Jan Tatomir's creations for the month of July! This month we are excited to introduce you to our Guest Designer Melisa Waldorf! Here is some information from her! Please welcome her!

"Hello! My name is Melisa. I am a wife of 24 years with 2 children, Travis (22) and Nicole (21). I have just relocated from sunny Florida to sunny Texas. I work part-time as a nurse and spend the rest of my free time doing some form of paper crafting, and I LOVE it all. Scrapbook layouts, altered pieces, home décor, ATC’s, inchies, and cards. I started scrap booking many years ago, 10+. And fell in love with stamping and card making about 3 years ago. It has brought me so much happiness and many friendships.

I’m thrilled to be a Guest Designer for Creative Cuts and More this month. What a wonderful business Terry has started. I used to see all those cute 3-D and specialty cards over a SCS. I kept saying I was going to try some of the patterns, but never took the time to follow through. It seemed like a lot of extra work. So I was stuck in the rut of creating rectangular shaped cards. Then, I found Creative Cuts and More, and knew my my paper crafting projects were about to become a little more interesting! Creative Cuts and More is perfect for a lazy gal like myself. You don’t have to do any cutting or scoring. Just fold and adhere. It doesn’t get any easier than that!! "

JULY GUEST DESIGNER...

Although it is mid month, we have had a Guest Designer! We are so excited to introduce you to Jan Tatomir...

Here is some information about her...

 

I was born, raised and still live in the great state of Michigan with my DH of nearly 18 years.

I am a SAHM of three boys, ages 15, 14 and 7.  I have always enjoyed crafting in one form

or another.  I started scrapping about 12 years ago.  5 years ago I started making cards so I

could use all the "pretty" papers and  embellies I saw at the scrapbook store!  Thanks for

letting me play with you this month at Creative Cuts & More!

Hello Everyone-

This month, we are THRILLED to introduce to you the VERY talented Guest Designer, JOAN ERVIN!

Hi everyone....first I want to tell you how excited I am to be the June Guest Designer for Creative Cuts & More!!! I am thrilled to be creating with such a wonderful Design Team and the quality products from Creative Cuts & More!!!

I am a retired RN who loves to stamp, garden, quilt, play with grandbabies, and shop for antiques. I am married to George and together we have five children, four of whom are married, and twelve grandchildren. My parents live only two blocks away and are in pretty good health which is a real blessing!.

I began my stamping journey several years ago when my DD Holly became a Stampin Up! Demo. She has given me lots of support and encouragement along the way...especially when it comes to buying stamps!!!

I don’t know that I have a particular style...I love it all!! Shabby Chic, CAS, cutsie, elegant...I am a more is better kind of stamper and love to pile it on!!! I also love to color with Copics and my Tombow markers and I just started doing a little scrapbooking.

I am looking forward to stamping with Creative Cuts & More products and can’t wait to get started!!!

Here is a project made by Joan:

Joan's card uses the Color Block Window A7 Scallop Card in Limeade. Joan had this beautiful May Arts ribbon for quite a while and was finally able to use it because the colors matched perfectly!! The card is 5x7 with a scallop at the bottom which she covered up with the Basic Grey Green at Heart paper. She also covered the blocked openings with the dp and punched the butterflies with it, too. The fairy image is from Sparkle & Sprinkle called Garden Fairies...it was colored with copics, cut out with round scalloped Nestabilities and attached with dimensionals. Silver pearls were added to the butterflies and she drew on the antennas.

WEDDING MATCHBOX - PARTY FAVORS from Guest Designer Patti West

Hello Everyone - HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! For our wonderful GUEST DESIGNER Patti's fourth project she chose to alter the matchbox. The matchbox comes in a variety of colors & textures, including metallic cardstock. One can easily find the perfect color to match your party theme!! You can see the matchbox #01 here.

Patti wanted my first box to be simple, yet classy. Using the metallic cs gave her the classy look she was going for. For the simple text, she used her computer to type "Kate & Tim", printed on white bazzill, then mounted on metallic cs and pop dotted to the matchbox. So simple and quick too! Wouldn't these make pretty engagement party or wedding reception favors?

Featuring Guest Designer: Patti West

Hello Everyone!

We did NOT have a Guest Designer last month as we are preparing to launch the NEW and IMPROVED Wonderful Website! However, this month, we are so excited to share with you our Guest Designer, the very talented Patti West! You can see MORE of her wonderful work HERE.

The first piece she worked with is the Flower window w/scalloped edge card (this is a brand new die cut which will be available at the new website on May 17th!) What makes this card so fun is it's already started for you....it arrives full of inspiration! The flower cut out and scalloped edge make for great jumping off points.

The Making Memories pp and letters are from the April Citrus Tree Studio kit. Patti used MM paint on a GCD Studios chip butterfly and then sprinkled some glitter on top. The "birthday" stamp is by Stampin' Up. She machine zig zag stitched the pp behind the flower cut out and then added a strip of pp to the top. :)

Adhere journaling die cut, stickers, paper frill and apply rubon to the front of the bag. Use red tape to create the bag. This can be used for gift cards, candy, a fun little gift for a loved one that you miss.

Killer Red Tacky Tape

Create inside and outside of box using Red Tacky Tape. Cut strips of patterned paper and adhere to sides and top of boxes. Tie ribbon around the box and add button and pearl to ribbon.

This can be given to someone you love, a wedding table decor item or for Valentine's Day. You could put candies, gift cards or trinkets in the match box.

Guest Designer Lisa Graves

We are lucky to have Lisa Graves as our Creative Cuts and More guest designer this month. Lisa made this adorable travel bag from our Tiffany Purse . The purse was custom cut from Bazzill Bling card stock and decorated with 7 Gypsies paper and Making Memories brads. Thanks for the inspiration Lisa, we love this bag!
